Roblox Proxies for Developers and QA

Roblox is played mostly on phones and tablets, often on mobile networks, by an audience that is heavily American. If you build experiences on the platform, the environment your players actually use is a US carrier connection, not the office fiber you develop on. A BetterProxies line is one real SIM on AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon in one of eight US metros, used only by you. This page is written for developers, studios and QA testers: what Roblox does differently for US players, how to test it from anywhere, how UDP and NAT affect a play session, and where the line stops being useful.

PolicyService and country-dependent behaviour

Roblox gives developers PolicyService, which returns rules for the current player that depend on their country and account, such as whether paid random items are allowed and which external link references are permitted. LocalizationService can report the country region for a player too. If your team sits outside the United States, every one of those calls returns your country during testing, and the US branch of your code path, the one most of your players hit, is never exercised by a human before release.

Joining your experience from a US carrier IP lets a tester walk the American path end to end: which shop items appear, which links render, which prompts fire. Pair it with a test account whose settings match a typical US player, and you have a repeatable check you can run before every update. It is one of the few cases where a proxy fixes a real blind spot rather than adding convenience.

Real mobile conditions for performance testing

Players on phones deal with things your development machine never sees: variable latency, packet loss under load and carrier-grade NAT. Roblox gameplay runs over UDP, and our lines carry UDP over SOCKS5, so a desktop client routed through a system-level tunnel experiences a genuine US cellular path. Watch how long assets take to stream in on a large map, whether remote events queue up during busy moments, and how your server-authoritative movement feels when the round trip is longer than on fiber. 4G lines behave like the typical phone in a busy area; 5G lines show what a well-served player gets.

For quick checks on an actual phone, set the proxy in the Wi-Fi settings and open the Roblox website and store pages through it. The Roblox app's real-time traffic will not follow a Wi-Fi HTTP proxy, so full in-game tests on a phone need a SOCKS5 client app that can carry UDP.

Robux pricing, Premium and the US store view

The Robux and Premium prices a player sees depend on platform and country, and they are presented differently on the website, in the iOS app and in the Android app. Marketing teams and UGC creators outside the US who want to quote US prices accurately, or check how a gift card offer appears, can open the web store from a US carrier line and capture exactly what an American visitor sees. Keep purchases on your own account with your own payment method.

The line between testing and alt farming

Roblox allows developers to keep test accounts for their own experiences. It does not allow using extra accounts to evade a ban, to inflate visits or favourites, or to trade limiteds in ways that break its terms. Because a carrier IP is shared through carrier-grade NAT with many ordinary phones, it is gentle on logins, but moderation on Roblox follows the account, the device and the behaviour. Keep the number of test accounts small, label them as test accounts in your team notes, and never use a line to come back after a moderation action. We will not help with that and it would not work well for long.

Troubleshooting a Roblox test session

If PolicyService still returns your home country, check that the Roblox client process, not only the browser, is going through the tunnel. If the client connects but disconnects after a minute, UDP is probably not reaching the proxy; confirm your tunnel supports SOCKS5 UDP rather than TCP only. If joins take far longer than usual, test the line itself with a plain speed check before blaming your experience.

Setting up a Roblox proxy on BetterProxies

  1. Order a line in the metro that matches your biggest player base, for example Houston or Los Angeles.
  2. Create or pick a dedicated test account that belongs to your team.
  3. Route the Roblox client through a system-level tunnel that supports UDP over SOCKS5.
  4. Confirm the US carrier IP, then join your experience in Studio's published build or the live game.
  5. Log what PolicyService and LocalizationService return and walk the US-only code paths.
  6. Repeat on a 4G and a 5G line to compare load times, and rotate only between runs.

Roblox proxy questions

Can I test US PolicyService results without being in the US?

Yes. Join from a US carrier IP with the client routed through the line and PolicyService treats the session as American, which is the path most of your players take.

Will a proxy make Roblox run faster?

No. It adds a hop. The point is to reproduce the conditions mobile players have, not to improve your own ping.

How many test accounts should share a line?

Keep it to a few clearly labelled team accounts. Moderation follows accounts and behaviour, and alt farming is against Roblox rules whatever the network.

Does 15 GB a day cover testing?

For play tests and store checks, comfortably. Large asset uploads from Studio are better done on your normal connection.
